Flash Floods Hit Nuristan, Afghanistan

Heavy monsoon rains have caused sudden, destructive floods in Parun, the main city of Nuristan in eastern Afghanistan.

At least 23 lives have been tragically lost, 15 people are injured, and more than 100 individuals remain missing under mud and fallen structures.
Whole neighborhoods, markets, and local roads near the river have been washed away, and with damage to the water-supply network, approximately 1,000 families are now left without access to safe drinking water. Emergency teams are working fast to find survivors and deliver urgent relief.
