In the heart of Gaza, where families continue to face unimaginable hardship, Penny Appeal USA recently launched a critical initiative to care for the region’s most vulnerable—its infants. Through our Gaza Infant Support program, we reached 764 babies, providing essential nutrition and hygiene supplies during one of the most challenging times in recent history.
From April 11 to May 11, 2025, in partnership with PAEEP, we distributed over 2,200 tins of infant formula and hundreds of tins of cereal and powdered milk—each carefully packed to meet the needs of children from just one day old to five years of age. For mothers who are breastfeeding, we provided powdered milk to support their own nutrition and milk production, ensuring no baby was left behind.
But food alone isn’t enough. In a region where access to clean water and sanitation is severely limited, we also prioritized hygiene and health. Each child received diapers, baby bottles, tissues, and wet wipes—simple items that go a long way in preventing disease and ensuring dignity. Beyond that, we made sure clean drinking water was accessible at shelters, enabling families to safely prepare formula and keep their little ones hydrated and healthy.
We focused first on the most vulnerable—newborns and infants under six months—then expanded support to older infants and toddlers as resources allowed. Special cases, including children with lactose intolerance or those suffering from malnutrition, were given extra care with tailored formula options and additional supplies.
In a place where so much is uncertain, this program offered families a moment of relief—a chance to nurture their children with the care and attention every baby deserves.
